Ode To ‘Block of Cheese’

Oh, you.

How you sit, stoic. How you stand your ground. You are an unwavering symbol of patriotism. Without you, I will fail.

Oh, you.

You are as diverse as the country. In yellow and white and green. Solid as a rock. Without you, I am nothing.

You don’t have to be modest.

A day without you is a day without cholesterol. A day without you is a day without sandwiches. Without grilled cheese, if you please. Without you, I am nothing.

You come in small packages. In large ones too. I could eat you all day. That’s from me, yes — to you.

Oh, you — dear block of cheese.

There’s something about you I can’t quite put my finger on. Something mysterious and intriguing. I can see you on the outside. And I can see you on the inside.

Yet still, the mystery remains.

Oh, block of cheese. I salute you.

I will be here until the end of time. Supporting you. Embracing you. And voting for you…

That is, if you ever ran for public office.
