Words For Your Enjoyment: The GBBMC

March 17th, 2006

With The Lost Blogs release coming in just over a month, and the related secret site mere weeks away from going live — I wanted to take this opportunity to give one more plug to the genius behind the G.B.B.M.C. (or Grassroots Blogger Book Marketing Campaign).

The brainchild of Kevin Apgar, the G.B.B.M.C. will be taking place during the week of April 10-14 and challenges bloggers to write their blogs in the voice of a historical figure (one not included already in my upcoming book). The Top 3 sites (as voted by an expert in the field of writing blogs in the voices of historical figures, i.e. ME) will receive signed, first-edition copies of The Lost Blogs. Currently, there’s already 20+ sites signed up for the festivities, and there’s still time to get involved yourself.

So if you’re interested, check out the contest information here and scroll down to see the current list of participants. And get the word out to your fellow history-loving blog-writing friends.

Their Lost Blogs

February 27th, 2006

Seems that The Lost Blogs has it’s own grass roots campaign.

Much like the whales and um, a bunch of other grass-rooty guys — WFME pal Kevin has organized (on his own) his own way to get the word out about The Lost Blogs by challenging bloggers to write blogs “as written” by historical folk during the week of April 10-14th.

“…Paul’s second book, The Lost Blogs: From Jesus to Jim Morrison, is due to be released to the book-whoring public on May 8, 2006 (you can preorder it from Amazon.com, among other online booksellers now). The book covers how blogs by some of the most famous people in the world might read. It really is an interesting concept and in an attempt to help get word out about this book, I am proposing that we, as Pauly’s fellow bloggers, readers, and fans, start our own pseudo-celebrity blogs…”

Having stumbled upon Kevin’s plans last week I was both flattered and appreciative and decided to throw some schwag into the mix, offering up first-edition signed copies of the book to the Top 3 Best Historical Blogs (as judged by me) that are written during what I’m calling “Kevin’s Week ‘o Grass Roots Kind of Stuff”.

So, if you’re interested and want to participate, check out the rules and be a part of history that never was.

New York Post-age

February 6th, 2006

You may remember last week when WFME revealed the true identity of Mr. Six and confirmed it like a big boy blog.

Today, The New York Post gives WFME the credit and takes the story even further. And while they didn’t reach Danny Teeson for comment (or crouch inside his kitchen pantry in an attempt to scare him just as much as he’s scared us over the years), we still admire their ability to give credit where credit is due.

Thanks to The New York Post for giving Words For My Enjoyment some good-time Monday morning love.

Words of a Guest

February 1st, 2006

Sometimes I do people favors of the worded kind.

Today, that favor included writing a guest post for Will over at Youngest Of One while he’s gone on an ultra-secret retreat of sorts.

It’s called Hey Starship, What City Did You Really Build?

My Book Is Thicker Than Yours

January 24th, 2006

The galley copies of The Lost Blogs arrived this past week.

For an author, finally getting the chance to hold an actual bound copy of your book after all the editing and revising and what not has got to be one of the most exciting moments next to it getting released in the first place. From the cover to the spine, to being able to flip through it, is a pretty exciting moment.

Except I’m a little more obsessed with the fact that my book is thicker than yours.

Sure, I know you may not necessarily have a book that you’ve written per se — but go ahead, pick up any book nearby and I’m willing to be that my book is thicker than yours.
