Memorial Day MP3

May 30th, 2005

God, it’s nice to have traditions.

Last year, WFME premiered the one feature that all the world was talking about — Memorial Day MP3 2004. We had a party, people were laughing and eating hamburgers, and there was free music to go around.

This year is no different, as the 2nd Annual Memorial Day MP3 finds its way to you…dear friends.

Here, for your listening pleasure is the latest MP3 by Imogen Heap (of Frou Frou fame) called “Hide and Seek.” The song, featured in the finale of The O.C. was used to great effect during a funeral sequence and has been on repeat on my computer for days now. If you like it — buy it!

Ben’s Musical Words

April 28th, 2005

If you’re a fan of Ben Folds, then you’re well aware that his new album “Songs For Silverman” came out yesterday. If you’re also a big fan of Ben Folds, you may have gotten wind of a bonus disc only available through his fan club called “Songs For Goldfish.”

Then again, maybe you’re not.

Most of “Songs For Goldfish” is made up of live tracks from concerts, but there’s a great track on the disc which serves up two Radio Jingles that Ben Folds did for a Tokyo radio station called Inter-FM.

It’s yours to listen to, free for a limited time!

Tonight’s Plagiarized Idea About Giving Out Free Music

December 6th, 2004

WFME friend Srah has got a wonderful thing going on at her blog all month long called Holiday Download Extravaganza in which you, the anonymous blog reader gets a free song to download each day. No strings. No complicated documents to sign. No kidneys getting ripped out of your stomach while you lay unconscious in a Vegas bathtub.

It’s true. And because I think it’s such a great idea, I’ve stolen it.

But don’t get me wrong. I am not calling my feature Holiday Download Extravaganza nor am I giving out a free MP3 song each day this month. I am calling it December 6th Evening Freebie of an MP3 Download Because There’s Nothing Good On TV Tonight Extravaganza.

The Choir

November 2nd, 2004

Really, it’s not often I don’t wonder when a children’s choir is going to get around to singing a gloriously enhanced version of the Divinyls’ I Touch Myself.

Other requests include:

AC/DC’s Back in Black
They Might Be Giants’ Birdhouse in Your Soul
Baja Men’s Who Let The Dogs Out?

and

Musical Youth’s Pass The Dutchie

Memorial Day MP3

May 31st, 2004

You loved “Words For Your Enjoyment.” You screamed over “End of the Month Elephant Story.” And now, you can cry in happiness over the newest addition to the WFME calendar year…

Memorial Day MP3!

That’s right. Once a year (because if I only do it once a year the chances of getting arrested by the RIAA won’t be nearly as feasible) I will be serving up an MP3 that is dear to my heart that you, YES YOU, can download for free.

This year’s free MP3 is “Two Hearts Beat as One” by U2. But this ain’t no everyday normal U2 song. This is off an unreleased live CD that was put out as a promotional disc back in the early 80’s that you can’t find anywhere. Not even at the famed iTunes music store.
