Today’s Thoughts While Balancing My Checkbook

October 1st, 2005

I don’t think it should be called “carrying the one.”

How about:

one-tossing
flipping the “1″
giving the “1″ a vacation from another part of town
one-ing upping
separating the “1″ from the herd
won a “1″
we don’t need no stinkin’ 1’s
i like 9 just fine
giving the “1″ an attitude adjustment
fun-y’one (pronounced “fun-yon”)

Not Wishing I Had A Dollar

September 22nd, 2005

Personally, I never wish I had a dollar for anything.

Sure, you may wish you had a dollar for every time you see someone trip on the sidewalk, or every time something gets screwed up at your office, or every time you choke on milk and graham crackers and the combined mixture comes streaming out your nose…

But not me.

I never wish I had a dollar for anything.

I think society has messed up, personally. There was a point in the history of society when some idiot decided to pronounce out loud that if this happened then hypothetically wouldn’t it be great if someone gave him money. Then suddenly, people started jumping on the “I wish I had a [insert monetary amount here] every time [insert ironic happening here]” bandwagon.

ATM Pressure (Or, I’m Not A Bomb Diffuser)

July 27th, 2005

Sometimes, when I’m getting money from the ATM I feel like Detective Riggs (Mel Gibson) from Lethal Weapon 2.

Because that’s the film that started out with Riggs and his about-to-retire partner (Danny Glover) in a parking structure, next to a car with a bomb in it. Time was ticking, they had to cut the wire, and they weren’t sure which one to cut. There was pressure, some sweat was beading down their forehead, and everyone was all eyes — watching and waiting. Watching and waiting.

It’s how I feel when I’m trying to get money out of the ATM.

Words For Your Enjoyment: Attention Whores

July 22nd, 2005

Aaah, Friday.

Is it strange that after so many Fridays over the course of our lives, this Friday is just as exciting as all the rest? Is it weird that while every other single item in our lives that repeats over and over again (another cookie, a birthday, lunchtime, the dentist, et al) gets old and boring and before long we can’t bear to experience it any longer — Friday continues to be just as exciting every single time?

It’s sort of like “Words For Your Enjoyment” — fresh, exciting, filled with 94% of all those extra vitamins and minerals you look for in starting off your weekend… And this week, is of course, no different.

Words About Princes

July 6th, 2005

Just a reminder — The Princes of Malibu premieres this Sunday, July 10th at 8:30/7:30 central on FOX.

The show, which I was a Supervising Producer on, concerns uber music producer David Foster (who is responsible, or guilty, for bringing the world people like Josh Groban and Whitney Houston), his wife and her two sons Brody & Brandon Jenner. The boys, deciding that moving home to their step-dad’s $70 million dollar Malibu estate is the next best career goal, are cut off in the premiere episode and must find ways to make money without pissing David off.

The only problem is that they, well, piss David off. And it looks like they’re pissing off the critics as well:
