It’s nice to be known as a “citation” in a dictionary of fringe words.
Such was the situation I recently came upon when I stumbled onto the Double-Tongued Word Wrester — a dictionary run by an American lexicographer for Oxford University Press in New York City, and found that their entry for the word gleek included references by yours truly and WFME friend Lori Bradley.
Don’t much what else I can really say about it except for the fact that my glands are all swollen over it (which means I’m excited).
Squirt!

It’s a good thing you checked in with WFME today. For if you hadn’t, you would be one of those people who was “not in the know” causing you to elicit giggles from those who were “in the know” making you feel insignificant in the larger scheme of things…although, really - aren’t we all insignificant anyway?
Today WFME introduces our brand new feature we like to call “The Most Random Sentence Ever” [and the story behind it]. You’ll marvel as you read words strung together in the form of sentences. You’ll guffaw with obvious happiness as stories rise and fall like the waves of the great Atlantic. You’ll smile and grin as the humor washes over your angst-ridden body.

“Scrunchie-Magoo.”
Really, it doesn’t mean anything. Yet you go throughout your day-to-day life saying it in situations that don’t warrant it. Hell, there are NO situations that warrant it. The saying “scrunchie-magoo” is not a real saying. They are not real words when put together. This is lunacy, I tell you!
But you have to figure, if someone is using a certain saying over and over again you might as well give them the benefit of the doubt and look up the words and see what kind of sense you can make of it. I have done this. Here are my findings:
scrunch*ie also scrunchy
n. pl. scrunchies
An elasticized fabric ring used chiefly by women and girls to gather or fasten the hair.

Eh-uh Ah.
It is a phrase not in ANY dictionary or thesaurus. It has never found it’s way into spelling competitions or Powerpoint presentations. Yet every human on the planet uses the phrase on a daily basis to communicate a variety of emotions:
-Lethargy
-Fatigue
-Boredom
-Lack of Decision-Making Abilities
-Indecisiveness
-Ignorance
-Feigned Happiness
-Creative Famine
-Emotional Depression
-Stupidity
-Passive Agressive Nature
Eh-uh Ah, verb (eh-uh, aoh)
1. To express no interest whatsoever while communicating some level of interest, sort of. When she asked him how he felt about having a baby, his response was ‘eh-uh ah’.
2. To respond without knowledge. The teacher asked Bill to break down Pi into numerical form, to which he reponded ‘eh-uh ah’.

Lately, the staff at WFME has felt the need to go out into the public and listen to how people interact with each other. For such an intelligent society, you’d think we’d be masters that that communication thing, but in reality, we’re all too self-absorbed to think about anyone but ourselves. Which reminds me, I have to call that guy about that thing today.
Either way, here are some of life’s questions, and how well we communicate with those who ask them of us:
Q: Plastic or paper?
a: Yes, please.
Q: Would you like to supersize that?
a: Pepsi.
Q: What do you think I am, stupid!?
a: I have no idea what you’re talking about.
