Words For Your Enjoyment: Richard Simmons vs. Neil Diamond

June 9th, 2006

WFYE missed you.

Back after a couple week hiatus, Words For Your Enjoyment returns with no more bags under the eyes, a spring in its step and a little ziploc baggy filled with those “energy pills” that you can get at your local GNC and shouldn’t worry about putting in your system because they are totally, fully, 100% safe.

Now, let’s get down to today’s rump-kicking cage match.

Good WFME pal Amy sent the mailbox here at WFME a slew of ideas for today’s post, but one in particular struck us as being quite apropros for no reason whatsoever. Amy’s suggestion? To write about “a make-believe boxing match between Richard Simmons and Neil Diamond.”

The Sorry State of Gut-Punching

January 8th, 2005

Apparently, I have stumbled upon yet another freaky sub-culture of society.

Gut-punching.

I posted this awhile back and have regularly received e-mails from people in response to said referenced post with things like this:

Paul:

Personally, I think a hard shot to the Gut feels really cool. I let my nephew slam his fist into my Belly a few times and I just laugh & he get’s a kick out of it. I like to see guy’s on TV get a fist to the gut but everybody knows that it’s just fake. They should try to look at www.malegutpunching.com it’s real and really cool to watch. Paul, if your ever up in the New York State area look me up and we can trade a few Jabs in The Gut, Very Cool. Hang Loose and stay well.

Hit Me in the Stomach as Hard as You Can Because I Can Take It

April 18th, 2004

Go ahead. Punch me in the stomach as hard as you can.

All I have to do, as long as you give me a three second warning, is flex my burly stomach muscles as hard as I can so when you punch me in the stomach with all your might — I won’t feel a damn thing.

In fact, I don’t even have to flex my burly stomach muscles hard at all. I can cause them to flex very lightly as if I was laughing at a mildly funny joke and even at that level of flexing, when your fist comes in contact with my abdomen — I won’t feel pain, discomfort or shed a tear.

Katie Couric vs. Jane Pauley

March 6th, 2004

I was trying to figure out who would win in a fight between Katie Couric and Jane Pauley when I found out I was going to have to work today.

Working on a Saturday after working a whole week. Can you believe it? It’s what happens when the Network loves the pitch of the new show but has “a few little tweaks” and you’ve got to get them done before Monday.

Nevertheless, in regards to Katie Couric and Jane Pauley I’ve broken it down to skills and personality traits and I think when you’ve read through it all you’ll agree with my final decision.
