I Spit On You, Westminster Dog Show (#1)

August 27th, 2004

I can’t swallow pills and I certainly can’t stomach the Westminster Dog Show.

I saw the Christopher Best Film Best of Show, and I have to admit, I was curious about the whole thing. Conveniently I came across one on television. It was pretty boring at first. Just a bunch of pretentious people walking their dogs. The dogs walked like there was a tube of toothpaste stuck up their butt. In a short period of time I went from bored, to confused, to angry, to building up my salivary glands.

1. These people name their dogs human names. There were no Spike’s, no Fluffy’s, no Rover’s, and certainly no Sandy’s. There were Donavan’s, Gastoff’s, Bridgett’s, and Jefferson’s. I don’t know if I should be upset there there was not a single dog named Pauly.

Words For Your Enjoyment: The Real Pauly D?

August 27th, 2004

Oh, the horror.

As I mentioned a few days ago, this week’s “Words For Your Enjoyment” comes from Steve, who suggested that I allow a group of readers to attempt to write a post in my style, then let you (the non participating readers) try and figure out which post came from the real Pauly D.

Yes, I know. It’s more than any of us can handle on a Friday.

Starting at 8:00AM PST you’ll start to see each of the six posts pop up. At the top of every hour and running until 1:00PM, a new post will appear by another anonymous contributor. The subject of today’s post (which each anonymous poster had to write about including me) is called, “I Spit On You, Westminster Dog Show.”

The Real Pauly D?

August 25th, 2004

I got an e-mail from Steve over at the Evil Empire who was way early in suggesting an interesting concept for this weeks “Words For Your Enjoyment”.

Steve suggested that I get a handful of readers who want to write an anonymous post in the style of the types of posts I write on WFME and then present those posts along with one of my own on Friday. Readers would then be challenged to guess which post was written by yours truly and which four were bogus. That person would, of course, become the king of the world (as opposed to getting a free book) since I’m feeling like that book thing is getting old. You can tell me if you feel otherwise.
