Words For Your Enjoyment: Reader Reunion
November 3rd, 2006
If high schools can do it, why can’t we?
That’s why today marks the 3rd WFME Reunion for all you readers out there. The ones who were here in the beginning (the upper class), the middleclassmen and the frosh readers. And while I didn’t send out any save the date cards months earlier, in the world of blogs, at least one day digital notice (i.e. yesterday’s mention in text) should have been received by everyone and anyone who traversed these hallowed WFME halls over the last few years.
I can only hope most of you are planning to attend the reunion being held in today’s comments section.
What have you been up to? Are you married now? Did you end up losing your job, living in a box, fathering some children and then becoming a multi-millionaire as you worked yourself back up the corporate ladder? Or has your life, since you left WFME behind, simply stayed the same? There’ll be some alcohol in the back to loosen you all up and some kick-ass music from back when we all hung around here (circa 2004-5) as well as that “one person” who makes a total fool of themselves (which today, won’t be me).
Don’t be shy. Let everyone know the 411.

I’m heading to where the alcohol is, so that when I have to answer questions like “are you married” or “do you have kids”, I can smile brightly because I’m so drunk I don’t care that no, I don’t have a husband or kids. Really. I don’t. Seriously, what’s a girl got to do to get a drink in this place?
But at least I didn’t get as fat as the head cheerleader did…
Comment by Amber — November 3, 2006 @ 7:44 am
Oooh, I’m part of the upper class. And I haven’t left, I’ve been here all along. And I have no news since last year–still not married and still no kids, but thanks for reminding me of that Pauly. I have however, probably set the record on the number of bad dates one person can have. Do I win anything for that?
Comment by Hilary — November 3, 2006 @ 8:19 am
i’ve been super busy. i invented post its.
Comment by ms. sizzle — November 3, 2006 @ 8:20 am
Amber - Great to see you around these parts, it’s been forever!! And not having a husband or kids isn’t a bad thing… Just ask Hilary.
Hilary - You and Amber can scope for dudes together at the reunion.
Sizzle - I knew you’d invent something awesome.
Comment by Pauly D — November 3, 2006 @ 8:30 am
hey sorry I can’t make it. Being back here on the East it so difficult to find the time. Between the great marriage, the kids, the dogs, the overpriced house with fancy cars and the really really stressful job with some generic financial title, it is so tough to keep up with everyone like we used to do. You know how it is.
But, Pauly, I wanted to thank you for the invite. It was really great of you to remember. Hey, pal maybe next time I am out there we can get a beer — my treat.
Comment by Jerry — November 3, 2006 @ 8:39 am
I did, in fact, live in a tin shack. But I’m not saying that just to impress you. My biggest accomplishment? I’ll let you know as soon as it happens.
Steer me toward the back … I’LL play the fool.
Comment by nic — November 3, 2006 @ 8:43 am
I’ve just celebrated a milestone. It’s been 18 years since I met my wife and stopped having sex with other women. You know what that means? … Exactly - I no longer have to worry about someone knocking on my door asking for child support!!!
Woo-hoo!!! Where’s the beer? Let’s party!!!
Comment by Jeff — November 3, 2006 @ 8:49 am
i don’t know where i fit in here. Am I upper, middle or lower? In fact, I’m still trying to find myself.
Comment by jacquie — November 3, 2006 @ 9:19 am
Vote for Jacquie for Hottest girl at the reunion!
Hey, I may not know what direction my life is headed, but at least I look good, not doing it.
Comment by jacquie — November 3, 2006 @ 9:21 am
I think I’d be firmly in the middleclassmen section.
Happy reunion everyone. I’m pretty sure that, since last I saw many of you, I went back to school, had and then subsequently lost many, many girlfriends.
Also, I’ve had a few projects that I’ve been up to. Incidentally, I’ve now landed a triple Pamchenko twist AND my John Travolta lifesized doll will be complete when Pauly sends me a lock of his hair (which he’s promised… but I’m still waiting… Pauly).
Incidentally, have you ever been to a reunion ON WEED?
Comment by Dylan — November 3, 2006 @ 9:27 am
hey PD! Is the bar still open?
Comment by em — November 3, 2006 @ 9:32 am
Dylan - Holy crap! I didn’t expect you to come, especially on WEED. As for that lock of hair for your Travolta doll, it’s in a FedEx box as of yesterday!
Em - Haven’t seen you in ages! And yes, the bar is still open, although you’d better get there before some of the others suck it dry.
Comment by Pauly D — November 3, 2006 @ 9:39 am
Ohmigod! You guys all look so awesome! How’ve you been?
Me? Well, the high point of my year was when I almost won a lock of this one guy’s hair. And then the low point was when some other guy decided he wanted to make a john travolta doll with it, and won it instead.
Anyway… I’m just gonna chill over here and work up the courage to ask someone to dance once they play “Don’t You Forget About Me.”
Comment by jenny — November 3, 2006 @ 9:39 am
Nervous smalltalk.
Comment by Pierce — November 3, 2006 @ 9:44 am
Do you remember when I commented about Mr. T? Those were the good ol’ days! Cheers!
Comment by monkeyinabox — November 3, 2006 @ 9:45 am
Monkey - While those were some good times, I’ll never forget the first time you left a comment. Boy, that memory will really help me remember the good times in my old age.
You know, when I’ve been blogging for FIVE years.
Comment by Pauly D — November 3, 2006 @ 9:48 am
How did you do that Paul? Do you have a big file or something? When was my first comment, or was it just not memorable enough?
Comment by Pierce — November 3, 2006 @ 9:57 am
Pierce - Yeah, your first comment wasn’t nearly as memorable. But we had great times during your 10th through 20th comments. Man, those were a total gas!
Comment by Pauly D — November 3, 2006 @ 9:59 am
Hey, uh, you. It’s great to see you. Yeah, no, it’s been ages. Same old same old huh? That’s great! Me? Well I’ve kept myself busy, you know. Really? Your lint collection won first prize at the International Collectors’ Convention? Fascinating.
No, no, I really don’t have time to stop by and see it but thank you so much for the invitation. Would you excuse me for just one second? I think that Amber is waiting for me over at the bar…
Comment by amandarin — November 3, 2006 @ 10:01 am
Amazing! I could point out your first comment on my site, but in fairness, I think you’ve only left two. Which I guess makes you lower class.
Comment by Pierce — November 3, 2006 @ 10:05 am
Is this the ‘01 reunion or the ‘02 reunion? I’m so glad that Anthony and Flea finally want to meet with me again. I hope John Frusciante isn’t there, he thinks he’s better than me, but he’s not (ok, yes he is)
Comment by Dave Navarro — November 3, 2006 @ 10:22 am
Jenny, I’ll dance with you, but that’s just because I’ve recently learned that your hair is the exact same color as the Mary Louise Parker doll I’m making.
Comment by Dylan — November 3, 2006 @ 10:51 am
I guess I’m a freshman here, standing in the corner watching the cool kids party on. I have indeed enjoyed the words and look forward to someday being a member of the graduating class. Like, lurker emeritus or something.
Comment by Jennifer — November 3, 2006 @ 11:10 am
I just love reunions! Thanks for letting me in the door Pauly.
It’s so fun to talk smack about people when they can’t remember who you are. Like Jacquie over there. Good GAWD woman could your skirt be any shorter? I do like the shoes tho. And look at Dylan still stoned and…oh crap…what’s he doing with those scissors???? Ewwwwww Hilary, hope that grows back.
Hi Jennifer! Sit over here by me, I’ll tell you all about my 19 year old that Jeff keeps denying. Oh and stay away from that monkeyinthebox….it can be scary. And if you see Pauly don’t tell him I’m here, I’m trying to avaoid him since the incident…..
Comment by rantingmama — November 3, 2006 @ 11:34 am
Hmmmm - what have I been up to since the beginning of WFME….Matt, a move to Nashville, a new job (kinda), a new puppy, a new car, a new house…lots of stuff!
Comment by sarah — November 3, 2006 @ 12:10 pm
I was having a great time at this reunion until I saw that squirrel in your fridge. You really should do something about that, Pauly.
Would you like a beer while I’m getting myself one?
Comment by Amy — November 3, 2006 @ 12:14 pm
regarding first posts, I would like to thank Paul for responding to my very first post here with a personal email.
Also, I apologize for that one post in which I blatantly hit on another poster. I was drunk.
Comment by Jerry — November 3, 2006 @ 12:30 pm
Hey Guys! Remember when I found Pauly’s blog when I looked up Capri Sun juice on the web? Oh, ya, those were good times. No, I haven’t accomplished anything since then. I, uh, am a late bloomer, ya, that’s it.
Comment by susan — November 3, 2006 @ 1:17 pm
Ohmigawd, PaulyD has a piece of toilet paper on his shoe, sshh, no one tell him!
Comment by susan — November 3, 2006 @ 1:18 pm
Paul Davidson, is that you? Wow, I hardly recognize you. You’ve changed! You’ve grown and matured, from writing about your giant head and now to hugging homeless people. So much more depth! And I see you have kept your hair! (except for that one piece).
Comment by susan — November 3, 2006 @ 1:21 pm
i admit i was a little reluctant to show up for this reunion. i thought everyone would think less of me because i haven’t moved on with my blog-reading life yet. i’m still hanging out at pauly’s. now i see that you all haven’t, either.
does that make us losers?
Comment by dgm — November 3, 2006 @ 1:49 pm
As a freshman, I feel it’s totally fitting for me to crash this reunion, drink copious amounts of liquor and make out with the most inappropriate male guest. In other words, a normal Friday night for me….
Great to see everyone - no, I’m not so and so’s wife - don’t you remember me?? I’m taller than I was the last time we saw each other - I was stretched on a rack in order to even out my weight distribution - it’s all the rage in Hollywood right now.
How are you doing?? You look fantastic!!! How did that whole thing turn out?
Comment by cdub — November 3, 2006 @ 2:19 pm
i fell in love. got dumped. then tried again and didn’t fall in love, but kinda got dumped again. i lost 30 pounds. i got a new laptop. i’m gonna be the maid of honor in a wedding. i might buy a new car. my job bores me. i could use a date with an intelligent, cute and funny single dyke. know anyone?
Comment by leolionqueen — November 3, 2006 @ 3:31 pm
So nice to see everyone. What? Yeah. The rumors are true. I came out of the closet since the last time y’all saw me. Right. Taking Julie Singleton to the Winter Formal was all a sham. A sham, I tell you. I really wanted to take Sean Arbuckle…. oh my God… He was gorgeous! Has anyone seen Sean?
Comment by purpletwinkie — November 3, 2006 @ 3:43 pm
I’ve been actualizing my goals strategy in an effort to maximize my success potential in a way which is concurrent with my prosperity life plan. I hope to start enjoying the fruits of such coherent and focused tactics any day now. So just go ahead and put me down as “billionaire playboy” and call it good.
Comment by Dave2 — November 3, 2006 @ 3:49 pm
Wow, it seems like just yesterday we walked these hallowed halls…I mean, um…yeah, nevermind. Haven’t been ’round lately ’cause WFME is blocked at work (WTF?). Good to see y’all. I’m off to join the line at the bar, I’ve got sorrows that need drowning…
Comment by annabel lee — November 3, 2006 @ 4:04 pm
God, it’s so great to see all of you guys.
Annabel - Seriously, why the H is WFME blocked at all? I mean, we don’t even have CURSING on this site! Strange.
Comment by Pauly D — November 3, 2006 @ 4:05 pm
A reunion? What? I don’t do reunions - I have nothing to wear!!
Though, wait, I though I saw a few mentions of “booze” in the other comments…cash bar or free?
Comment by Jenn — November 3, 2006 @ 4:14 pm
We lost touch long ago. You lost weight, I did not know!
Comment by AJ — November 3, 2006 @ 4:23 pm
Hi, everybody. Gosh, it’s really nice to see you all again. Oh, me? Same as ever, really. I’m still spending most of my time on schoolwork and writing whenever I get the chance. I know, that is SO me, right? Anyway, I’d like to make a toast to our host with the most, Pauly D. Thanks for organizing this, Paul. This is truly a night to remember.
Comment by Will — November 3, 2006 @ 5:33 pm
Upper Class in the house!!!!!!

Upper Class in the house!!!!!!
(fashionably late of course)
I thought about becoming a trucker for a long, long time so I could see the country and yada, yada, yada
then I remembered that you have to make those WIDE TURNS at intersections and everybody hates you, and cars have to back up, and yada, yada, yada.
yea, not gonna be a trucker.
so, I just drove my car around the country for awhile…until I ran out of money. changed my whole perspective.
and I decided to start watching Grey’s Anatomy. hmmmmm.
Comment by Kathleen — November 3, 2006 @ 6:30 pm
Does anyone know where I can get some….. some….
coke?
Comment by Daniel — November 4, 2006 @ 2:10 pm
i am late. is there any dip left?
Comment by Sarcomical — November 4, 2006 @ 9:22 pm
Sarcomical - There is…if you like old dip in a sourdough bread bowl. Ick.
Comment by Pauly D — November 4, 2006 @ 9:32 pm
eww! I saw chapternextJen double dipping.
And someone drank the beer I put in the back of the fridge.
After all these years, some people just never change.
Did I change? Mebbe I did, mebbe I didn’t.
Comment by Jen,too — November 4, 2006 @ 9:55 pm
Oh my gosh! You look great! Where are you living now? What are you doing? Didn’t we have…what? Oh, the reunion is over?
Shit. I really need to get myself a calendar.
Comment by sandra — November 5, 2006 @ 6:38 am
A reunion! I miss all of the good stuff! Better late than never, though!
My biggest accomplishment? I have been consistantly (and you are not going to believe this…) waking up every morning! I mean, each day…… I actually open my eyes!
I know! I know! It’s insanity! Tomorrow I will actually get up for the first time! Wish me luck!!!
Comment by cutiepie — November 5, 2006 @ 7:00 am
Just like in high school, I show up to the reunion late and drunk. I go on and on about how crappy life’s been and then a peacock pecks me in the eye. That’s when I realize I’ve been at the zoo the whole time. Which would explain why the hors d’oveures tasted so bad.
Comment by T. Malone — November 5, 2006 @ 11:36 pm
A reunion?! And I missed it?! Regrettably, that’s the story of my life lately… So busy with wedding plans, Christmas card-making and shopping, packing for our Dec. 1 move date, interviewing for a new job that will not make me want to murder my boss, and being back in school — that I hardly have time for anything else.
