I could be that guy.
Having just arrived into Los Angeles with aspirations of being a bigtime actor, but having no experience whatsoever, I would go down to my local Kinko’s and have my new business cards printed up immediately. They would be a black laminate kind of slick looking card with my name in big fancy white fonted letters. Underneath my name in smaller but just as cool fonted white shadowed letters would be the word “ACTOR.” And on the back of the awesome black laminate business card I would have them put an ancient Chinese symbol that would mean “courage.”
Yes, I could totally be that guy.

With the new Jodie Foster flick Flightplan in theaters this weekend, I was pleasantly surprised to get an e-mail from a friend at the studio putting out the movie.
He works in marketing and publicity and sent me a memo with alternative titles they’d been circling around. I think it really gives you a window into the minds of a studio marketing team:
Lost
Can I Have Some Peanuts, And My Daughter?
I Designed This Plane, Much Like The Guy on ‘Prison Break’ Who Designed That Prison
Not Without My Daughter (On A Plane)
My Daughter’s Not In The Bathroom
Yes, My Daughter’s Not In The Cargo Hold Either

If a man got up at 9AM and got onto a bus that pulled up right outside his apartment in or around New York, NY and it was traveling at approximately 43 mph and at THE SAME TIME a man got up at 6AM and got onto a bus that pulled up right outside HIS house in or around Los Angeles, CA and it was traveling at approximately 42 mph — and both buses were heading towards the opposite city (NY to LA, LA to NY)… On which day of the week would both buses cross each other’s paths if they had left their originating cities at the previously mentioned time on the previous Monday of the work week?

The October issue of Wired Magazine hits stands this week and includes an article by yours truly entitled “How Doomed Is It?”
The piece examines the upcoming Universal Pictures release of Doom: The Movie and attempts to answer the question, “Is this video game to movie translation going to suck as much as Super Mario Bros. and the handful of other horrible adaptations?” I dig deep, get the answers, and discuss the shooting of demons, hellspawn and, well, more demons.

Personally, I never wish I had a dollar for anything.
Sure, you may wish you had a dollar for every time you see someone trip on the sidewalk, or every time something gets screwed up at your office, or every time you choke on milk and graham crackers and the combined mixture comes streaming out your nose…
But not me.
I never wish I had a dollar for anything.
I think society has messed up, personally. There was a point in the history of society when some idiot decided to pronounce out loud that if this happened then hypothetically wouldn’t it be great if someone gave him money. Then suddenly, people started jumping on the “I wish I had a [insert monetary amount here] every time [insert ironic happening here]” bandwagon.
