More Words on Princes
July 11th, 2005
Last night was the premiere party for FOX’s Princes of Malibu, which was held at David Foster’s luxurious “Casablanca” estate in Malibu — it was a great little shindig with a huge screen setup on the lawn, celebrities, free grub, and Guess handing out gift bags since the boys are now official models for the company…
They had the usual In N’ Out Burger (a Southern California favorite) and a Coffee Bean truck there all setup for non-stop FOX freebies — and everyone was downing as much free food as they could possibly handle while waiting for The Simpsons to end so they could get down to business and watch the show.
The show itself, I personally think, turned out really well — you gotta give credit to the editors of the world who transform hundreds of hours of footage into a tight 22 minutes of hilarity! Well, hilarity is all relative, but I was pleased with the outcome.

In additionally ‘other news’ - early ratings show that The Princes of Malibu was second in overnight ratings, just behind a re-run of Extreme Home Makeover. When Nationals come in, who knows? The Princes may just walk away with the crown!

Congrats. Maybe we can start a rumor that Ty Pennington was in some weird porno movie in the past and get ABC to cancel “Extreme Home Makeover.”

Well, ABC is alrealdy cancelling Extreme Makeover. Maybe to help in cancelling the second show, Neil, you can put up some pictures of Ty on your site? Something to fuel the fire, so to speak?
I elect YOU!

Congrats on the show, and thanks for changing your web address to pauldavidson.net. It shaves off a 1/3 second because I don’t have to type in the ‘blogs’ part anymore

The Princes of Malibu sucked really bad. And I’m from Malibu..and normally wouldn’t put it down. But everyone here agrees it was pretty bad. The boys lack the star power paris and nicole have. Although they are trying to become Paris and Nicole but a male version, they lack personality, humor, and even though their stepdad got them the Guess Ad, they lack the looks. Spencer Pratt is hot!!!

Mmmm….In ‘N Out. I had it for the first time in May, and even though it’s wholly bad for you, it’s oh-so tasty. Congrats on the show, even though I’ll never see it.

Kooks beware of what you say… The fact is that the helpless souls that make up middle america, and the largest TV audience, will love The Princes, and their sidekick from the Palisades, spencer. I am also from malibu, and I would have to say that not everyone dislikes the show, although we may not want the extra publicity it will bring to our already ruined small town, Brody, Brandon, and Spencer are good guys, and good friends who are actually trying to make some of their own money, even if they don’t need it… so don’t hate! PS, the house is only worth $19mil. Look for more projects in the works from these kids…

To those who feel Pauly Shore (King of un-funny) should be running a comedy store are morons. To those who feel Princes of Mialibu is not scripted are the same people who watch wresteling. When will the masses learn that there are NO laws against scripting these programs.

You’re right, elliott.
The bottom line is THESE SHOWS ARE FORMS OF ENTERTAINMENT and in the end, that’s all anyone should expect. Reality, not-reality, funny, not-funny, scripted, not-scripted…
Entertainment. Or not. You make the choice, you turn on/off the TV, and that’s how it works.
