The Princes are coming…
You may remember earlier this year when I mentioned that I had been working as a Producer on an untitled, ultra-secret reality TV project that had no name, no details, and had for all intents and purposes…never existed.
Well, now that FOX has let the cat out of the bag and started airing the promos for the show The Princes of Malibu (Premieres 7/10, 8:30pm) — I figured I would spend a little time talking about the project. The show, by the way, has nabbed a pretty decent slot between The Simpsons and Family Guy which can only mean one of two things.
1. FOX loves the show.
2. FOX thinks it’s an extremely animated show.
Which it is.
The Princes of Malibu concerns a Malibu family made up of uber music Producer David Foster (from the band Chicago), his wife Linda Thompson (once married to Bruce Jenner) and her sons (the crux of the show) — Brandon and Brody Jenner. The “concept” of the show addresses a concern most parents have — what do you do when your kids (after college) move back home to live with you.
On this show, hilarity ensues when David Foster cuts off his kids and they set off to make money on their own in a variety of crazy, insane and funny ways — which does nothing more than set off David to the point of lunacy. And well, he gets pretty peeved too.
And while the kids and their friends “from the ‘Bu” (Malibu for those just joining us) may initially make the rest of us not-so-rich Americans wonder just why we care about kids who will probably never have to worry about cash…in the end, it’s just an American family with the same problems as the rest of us, and that’s why I dub this show the cultural phenom of this decade!!
Yeah, I may have overdone it a little bit.

Awesome! Best of luck with the show. And I promise not to call it “A Boys’ Simple Life.”

yeah, I was wondering about this show whether it was “real” reality or “fake” reality - meaning it was a sort of a scripted reality show.
I couldn’t quite get the jist of it from the commericals because it looked like a reality show but then certain scenes looked as if it were sitcomish.
And so I gather from your post that is in indeed a real reality show. And now that I know you’re involved I will make sure to tell all two of my friends to watch it.

Another Pauly D reality show. Like I don’t already have an addiction to reality shows. Damn you, now I have to watch another one!
NO MORE!
Unless you make lots of money, then I will sacrifice.
