This Week’s Celebrity Look-Alike Sightings

June 22nd, 2004

It’s been a busy week for celebrity look-alike sightings.

1. Last Friday, Tom Cruise was seen walking out of a Beverly Hills park bathroom with no shirt on and a pair of Bullwinkle boxer shorts on sharing a drink out of a brown paper bag with another young man wearing matching shorts. The two seemed to be canoodling together until local police stopped them for questioning.

2. Anna Nicole Smith was seen leaving a Venice Beach doctor’s office with bandages and gauze sticking out from her tight pants. Upon further investigation, we determined that indeed this doctor’s office specializes in liposuction.

How The Movie “The Terminal” And My Experience Being Trapped In A Parking Garage Are Sort Of, Kind Of Similar

June 22nd, 2004

Stephen Spielberg’s latest “not number one at the movies but still OK” film The Terminal hit theaters last week to average buzz and polite reviews and stars our good friends Tom Hanks and Catherine Zeta-Jones-Douglas. In it, Hanks plays a foreigner who must live in the NYC airport after being denied return passage to his home country.

Would you believe the same exact thing happened to me? Sort of?

I was visiting The Beverly Center here in Los Angeles a few years back on an afternoon that is now referred to as “the afternoon that incident happened” although on the day in question it was referred to as “just an ordinary everyday afternoon that happened to include a trip to The Beverly Center.” My goal in heading over there was to pick up some gym equipment in an attempt to cause my biceps, chest and lat muscles to bulge with strengh and excitement.

Few Words, Many Stories

June 22nd, 2004

As you may or may not have guessed by now, I love words.

There was a point in my history (boy, don’t I sound like I’ve really lived) when I was obsessed with prefixes and suffixes. You know? Like how the words “pre” always refer to “before.” Look at any word, from “preview” to “precursor” to “predetermined”… It came in really handy during the time when I took the S.A.T.’s, but still - nice to know there’s a rhyme and reason to why words mean what they do.

Non-Scary Clown Moment #45

June 21st, 2004

The clown stared at the man behind the counter. He slid him a variety of items. Balloons and cupcakes and candles and make-up remover. The man behind the counter looked up at the clown, dressed to the nines in typical clown-wear.

It was a stare-down. Plain and simple.

“You a clown?” the clerk wondered.

The clown had heard this before. He had been faced with these moments throughout his life.

“Yes. I am a clown,” the clown replied.

“Cool,” said the clerk.

“Thanks for being so cool to me, being a clown and all,” said the clown.

“I like clowns,” said the clerk. “They make me happy.”
